TRIBUTE TO EMILIO DE VILLOTA
The highlight of this 12th edition will be the tribute to Emilio de Villota, the former Formula 1, Sport-Prototype, and Touring Car driver who was one of the great stars of the 1970s and 1980s. Emilio de Villota will also be the “Grand Marshall” of the event and, therefore, the leader of the organization in all the races that take place.
In the tribute that will be paid to him at Espíritu de Montjuïc 2026, he will receive the Nuvolari Trophy, a prestigious award given annually by Escudería Barcelona. The tribute will take place on the first day of Espíritu de Montjuïc, Friday, March 27, at 12 noon, in a room set up for this purpose at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The event will be open to all visitors who request it.
In addition, pit no. 1 will host a photographic exhibition and display of the driver’s memorabilia, and right outside the venue, in the paddock, there will be some of the cars he drove during his racing career, notably the first Formula 1 car he drove, the Lyncar 006-Cosworth, and one of the next cars he drove in Europe, the McLaren M23-Ford.
